THE 7 DOORS HOUSE

Step into living history.

The original plot was owned by Jeronimo Sebastiao De Souza and Maria Carlota Fernandes - parents to Fr. Moreno de Souza (1923 -2007), a celebrated Goan Jesuit priest, Konkani poet and one of the translators of the Povitr Pustok (the Holy Bible in Romi Konkani). The property passed to Joao Vicente Lobo in 1912, and the house was subsequently built in 1932 by Vincent Gaspar Lobo - a figure of remarkable reach who also once owned the historic Royal Hotel in Jabalpur.

Pilerne : A village outside time

The Seven Doors House sits in Moica Vaddo - a quiet hamlet of Pilerne village in the Bardez taluka of North Goa. The village is a protected wetland, home to year-round birdsong and a pace of life that the modern world has, mercifully, forgotten to disrupt.

The 7 Doors House is a 1932 Portuguese-Goan private estate in Pilerne village, North Goa. Restored over five years by Deepak and Leenika Jacob, it returns to itself after decades of neglect — its original laterite walls, sal-wood beams, and stained-glass doors intact.

“A house that breathes with the land.”

Deepak & Leenika Jacob

Nearly ninety years later, Deepak and Leenika Jacob found the house, slowly returning to the forest. Over the course of five years (2020 -2025), of which the first few were spent undertaking a painstaking restoration with architects, conservators and lineage craftsmen from across the country breathing life back into every room - all without erasing the character that time had given it. The Seven Doors House once again breathed.

Did you know ?

The lion finial crowning the roofline was sourced from Goa Potteries, Bicholim - a quiet homage to the neighbouring Lobo family homes, where lions have stood sentinel for generations.
